1. General Information

The eighth annual Marion Area Science and Engineering Fair will be held March 21, 2009 in the Alber Student Center at The Ohio State University at Marion.

The territory of the Marion Area Science and Engineering Fair consists of:

Crawford County

Delaware County (schools in Delaware City and the Buckeye Valley and Olentangy school districts)

Knox County

Marion County

Morrow County

Union County

Wyandot County

The Marion Area Science & Engineering Fair is affiliated with the Society for Science & the Public (SSP) and is held at The Ohio State University at Marion, in conjunction with North Central District Science Day.

High school students at the Marion Area Science & Engineering Fair compete for an opportunity to participate in the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF), to be held in Reno, Nevada, May 10-15, 2009. ISEF participants will receive an all expenses paid trip to Reno for the competition.

The top students in grades 5-8 at the Marion Area Science & Engineering Fair will be nominated for the SSP Middle School Program. Nominated students will be asked to register online for entry into a national essay competition. The national finalists win an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, DC in October 2009 to compete for scholarships, trips and other awards, while presenting their science fair project and doing science with 29 of their peers from around the nation.
