Marion Area Science & Engineering Fair

The fourteenth annual Marion Area Science & Engineering Fair will be held March 21, 2015.
The Marion Area Science & Engineering Fair is affiliated with the Society for Science & the Public and is held at the Alber Student Center, The Ohio State University at Marion, in conjunction with
North Central District Science Day.
The Marion Area Science & Engineering Fair has two divisions: a senior division for grades 9-12 and a junior division for grades 6-8.
High school students compete in the senior division for an opportunity to participate in the
Intel International Science & Engineering Fair
(ISEF), to be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, May 10-15, 2015.
ISEF participants will receive an all expenses paid trip to Pittsburgh for the competition.
Students in grades 6-8 compete in the junior division for an opportunity to participate in the
Broadcom MASTERS middle school program.

Students from Marion Area Science & Engineering Fair
Win Grand Awards at Intel ISEF
The two finalists from the Marion Area Science and Engineering Fair each won grand awards at the 2014 Intel International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF), held in Los Angeles May 11-16.
Achal Fernando-Peiris, from Mount Vernon High School, won a first award in Physics, worth $3000. Achal's project was judged one of the top three projects in Physics at ISEF.
Srinath Seshadri, from Village Academy, won a fourth award in Biochemistry, worth $500.
Achal won two other awards at ISEF. He was the recipient of one of three Innovation Exploration Awards from California Institute of Technology, which will give Achal an all expenses paid trip to visit Caltech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He also received a third award from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, worth $1000.
