2009 State Science Day Special AwardsThe following special awards were won by students from the North Central District at State Science Day, May 9, 2009 Alex Bogard, Grade 10, Rutherford B Hayes High School Ash Tree Health and Lichen Distribution Stone Laboratory Scholarship: Room and meals scholarship to attend a one week summer introductory course at Ohio State University's Stone Laboratory 3rd place, Governor's Award for Excellence in Environmental Protection Research: $100 & certificate Jacob Dixon, Grade 8, John C Dempsey Middle School The Science of Spatter 1st place, James Y. Tong Award in Forensic Chemistry: $100 & certificate Miriam Gibbs, Grade 9, Rutherford B Hayes High School Aliens in Our Midst: A Study of Emerald Ash Borer Activity in Delaware County Outstanding Project in Plant Pathology: $100 cash award Honorable Mention, Governor's Award for Excellence in Environmental Protection Research Riley Hall and Cody Howell, Grade 8, North Union Middle School Prototype This: A Micro Robotic Rototiller 1st place, Interdisciplinary Research Award: Plaque, $100 cash, & invitation to Sigma Xi annual banquet Kathleen Jackson, Grade 10, Rutherford B Hayes High School The Relationship Between Ash Trees and E.A.B.
