This is my professional page. If you were looking for my personal page, it's here.
I am a senior lecturer in the Department of Geography at the Ohio State University's Marion campus. I started here in 2000, and have been teaching full-time since 2002, the year I received my Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. My dissertation, Community Pride in American Small Towns, involved an in-depth analysis of 36 communities of about 5,000 people throughout the United States, examining the nature of community pride and the many ways in which individuals show affection (or a lack of it) for their communities.
Anything that deals with the human imprint on the landscape interests me. I am especially drawn to small towns, urban and suburban commercial strips, and artifacts of American car culture. Past research has involved regional food, tourism imagery, and town forms.
Information about my other interests can be found on my personal page.
