Recommendations
Each of the companies represented in my collection has brought forth a worthy product. True, not all are worthy of human consumption, but most make perfectly good paperweights, weed-killers, and projectiles. Some, though, are much better than others. I have performed some unscientific taste tests on lots of beverages -- Dr Pepper imitations and others -- and feel comfortable making the following suggestions to anyone wishing to make a more informed beverage purchase.
"Dr"-type beverages
- Dr Pepper
- Dr Pepper
- Dr Pepper
Honorable mention: Caffeine-free or Diet Dr Pepper. Either will do in situations where none of the above are available
Colas
- Mexican or Canadian Coke (with real sugar)
- Stewart's Draft Cola
- (tie) Coke or Pepsi
Citrus (what is the generic category here?)
- Sun-Drop
- Ski (has a slight orange flavor along with the typical citrus mix)
- Mountain Dew, but only as a last resort when BCC (blood caffeine content) is at risk of dipping dangerously low
Fruity beverages
- I can't in good faith recommend anything fruity. You understand.
Weird stuff
In no particular order...
- Bubble Up (the sweetest lemon-line there is)
- Cock 'n Bull Ginger Beer (extremely dry, but not such that you need 2 more sodas to recover)
- Green River (it's green...try finding something else that color)
- Cheerwine
- Ale-8-1
- Anything I have yet to try...
