Alaska Borough Government Locations

Update: Alaska has 2 new county-equaivalents as of 2008: the Municipality of Skagway and the Borough of Wrangell

Alaska has 14 organized boroughs with governments and 4 municipalities that, like independent cities in the rest of the country, have essentially the same governmental power as a borough. The table below shows the location of the borough government offices, which equate to the county seats in the rest of the country. The information was found on the Alaska Division of Elections website (not functional July 2008). Lake and Peninsula Borough is noteworthy for having a borough seat, King Salmon, that is located in another borough (Bristol Bay).
